Course Description:

Crisis Prevention Intervention (CPI) is a 12-hour course that focuses on verbal de-escalation techniques and strategies to prevent violent or disruptive behavior in the classroom, thereby allowing the teacher to emphasize learning. Physical intervention techniques that can be used as a last resort during a crisis are also taught.

Successful completion of a written examination and demonstration of physical intervention skills are required to obtain a 1-year approval to use the skills taught in the course.

*Completion of a follow-up survey, 3 months after the course, is expected and enables participants to obtain two additional inservice points for the workshop. All inservice points will be submitted after the three month survey has been sent to participants.

School teams of four are preferred.

At least a 24-Hour cancellation is required if for some reason you are unable to attend the course. Please cancel your registration on signmup so that the participant slot is available for others. Non-attendance without a cancellation will be reported to schools.
